2016 Redland City Australia Day awards, Sheldon January 21, 2016

The annual Redland City Australia Day awards will be held at Sheldon on January 21, 2016

There were 27 nominations in eight categories for the annual awards.

The 2016 Redland City Australia Day award finalists are:

2016 Citizen of the Year Award:

Lester McFadzen – Genealogical Society of Queensland
Michael Farnworth – Biology teacher

2016 Young Citizen of the Year Award :

Kirra Longmuir – Trendz Hair and Beauty salon owner
Leah Lever – vocalist
Shannon Brierley – volunteer

2016 Senior Citizen of the Year Award:

Catherine Thomas – Redland City Choir
Ian and Judy Wintle – Open Garden scheme
Ken Thackeray – Volunteer Marine Rescue

2016 Local Hero Award:

Jill Lindley – Redlands Hearing Impaired Support Group
Nyree Ewings – Rotarian
Peter Gould – SES volunteer

2016 Community Organisation Award:

Community Assist Redlands Enterprises Inc
Redland City Choir
The Cage Youth Foundation

2016 Cultural Award:

Anita Taylor – Redland City choir
Melissa Anderson

2016 Environment and Sustainability Award:
