Stolen vehicle and dangerous driving, Alexandra Hills

Police are seeking public assistance to locate a man who drove a stolen vehicle in the direction of a police officer at Alexandra Hills this morning.

Initial investigations indicate that around 8.10am, police officers inside a shopping centre on Fincuane Road received a complaint from a business owner in relation to the theft of several magazines.

Police chased a man on-foot out into the car park, where they saw him enter a white utility with the Queensland registration 051CLN.

As the vehicle approached, an officer called for the man to stop, however he accelerated at high-speed toward the officer, forcing him to move out of the way. The utility then exited the car park at speed and in a dangerous manner.

Further investigations found that the vehicle was stolen from an address on Pistchio Court, Birkdale overnight.

The man is described as being Caucasian in appearance and aged in his 30s. He is around 185cm tall, with a tanned complexion and is heavily tattooed on both arms and on his back/shoulder area.

Police have charged a 41-year-old man with a number of offences following an incident in which a stolen vehicle was driven in the direction of a police officer at Alexandra Hills this morning.

The 41-year-old Alexandra Hills man has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of motor vehicle, dangerous operation of motor vehicle, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, stealing, disqualified driving, possess a knife in public, fail to dispose of syringe, and possess tainted property.

He is due to appear in the Cleveland Magistrates Court tomorrow 16 Oct 2014.
