Serious assault police charges, Capalaba

Police have charged a man following the declaration of an emergent situation in Capalaba yesterday afternoon.

Shortly after 4pm police responded to reports a man had locked himself in a shed at a residence at Cassia Court, Capalaba and was allegedly armed with a gun.

Police attended the residence and established a cordon around the property.

It will be alleged the man fired two shots from the gun while police were in attendance.

The situation was resolved successfully when the man surrendered himself to police around 7.50pm.

No one was injured during the incident.

A 72-year-old Capalaba man has been charged with two counts of serious assault police and one count each of dangerous conduct with a weapon, unlawful possession of a category A weapon (rifle) and possessing ammunition.
