Fatal traffic crash, Alexandra Hills

A woman has died and two men are in a serious condition following a fatal traffic crash at Alexandra Hills on 21st August 2014.

Initial information indicates around 1.30pm a sedan, suspected of being stolen, was travelling on Finucane Road when it allegedly travelled through a red light and collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Vienna Road.

The driver of the second vehicle, a woman believed to be in her 60s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Two male occupants of the first vehicle were transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with serious injuries.

The Forensic Crash Unit has commenced an investigation.

Ethical Standards Command will also investigate the incident as initial inquiries indicate an unmarked police vehicle had activated lights and sirens in an attempt to intercept the sedan in the Alexandra Hills area prior to the crash occurring.

Police have charged a 40-year-old man with manslaughter following a fatal traffic crash at Alexandra Hills yesterday (21 Aug 2014).

It will be alleged a stolen vehicle travelled through a red light and collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Finucane and Vienna roads around 1.30pm.

A 65-year-old Redland Bay woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.

It will also be alleged the vehicle failed to stop after a police vehicle activated lights and sirens on Sallows Street prior to the crash.

A 40-year-old Cleveland man has been charged with one count each of manslaughter, unlawful use of a vehicle and failing to stop for police.

He is expected to appear in the Cleveland Magistrates Court today.

Ethical Standards Command is continuing to investigate the matter on behalf of the Coroner.

Update 2: Fatal traffic crash, Alexandra Hills

Officers investigating a fatal traffic crash at Alexandra Hill yesterday (21 Aug 2014) are appealing for witnesses to the incident to contact police.

Around 1.30pm a stolen red commodore allegedly travelled through a red light before crashing into another vehicle at the intersection of Finucane and Vienna roads.

A 65-year-old Redland Bay woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A 40-year-old Cleveland man was charged with one count each of manslaughter, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and failing to stop for police. He is expected to appear in the Cleveland Magistrates Court today.

A 27-year-old Alexandra Hills woman was charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on September 22.

Investigators are urging anyone, including motorists or pedestrians, who may have witnessed the incident or the vehicle in the area at the time to contact Cleveland Police on 3824 9333 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
