Attempted abduction, Birkdale

Police are investigating after the attempted abduction of a 14-year-old girl at Birkdale this morning.

Around 10am the girl was walking along Quarry Road near the intersection with Birkdale Road when a vehicle stopped behind her.

The male driver opened the rear passenger door before grabbing the girl’s arm and demanding she get into the vehicle.

The girl struck the man in the face before managing to run away and seek assistance at a nearby house.

The man is described as being Caucasian in appearance, about 30 years of age, with a heavy build, brown short hair and a short beared.

He was driving a vehicle described as being a silver older-style SUV with black roof racks.

Police have released the image of a man they wish to speak to in relation to the attempted abduction of a 14-year-old girl at Birkdale yesterday morning (10th July 2014).

The man, as pictured below, is described as being Caucasian in appearance, about 30-years old and around 170cms tall.  He has a heavy build, brown short hair, full cheeks and a short beard along his jawline.
At the time, he was seen wearing a light grey T-shirt and knee length cream-coloured shorts.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident, saw any suspicious activity in the area or has any other information which could assist in the investigation to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
