Update:

One person has died in an ultralight plane crash which occurred off North Stradbroke Island this morning.

Initial information suggests at 11am, an ultralight plane with one person on board crashed into the sea within three kilometres of the Surf Lifesaving Club on North Stradbroke Island.

Police are currently responding to an aviation incident which has occurred off shore, within three kilometres of the Surf Lifesaving Club on North Stradbroke Island.

Initial information suggests at around 11am, a light aircraft crashed into the sea.

Water Police and POLAIR are currently on their way to provide assistance.

An exclusion zone will be set up encompassing George Northling Drive and The Causeway.

At this stage, there is no information to suggest how many people were onboard the flight or what caused the crash.

There is no further information available at this time.
