Redland City Christmas by Starlight – Saturday 6 December 2014

Redland City Council’s Christmas by Starlight is Redland’s largest free community event to herald in the festive season.

Christmas by Starlight 2014 will be held on Saturday 6 December at picturesque Capalaba Regional Park – Pittwin Rd, Capalaba, and will feature fantastic food, kids activities, Santa and fireworks.

The all-age, family-friendly event will open to the public at 4pm with an afternoon of free children’s activities including an animal zoo, jumping castles, rock climbing, face painting and a visit from Santa.

There will be a variety of food, drink and merchandise stalls hosted by local not-for-profit community groups and licensed commercial operators.

At 5.45pm a special children’s Christmas show will be held.

A traditional carols concert will follow starring:

Luke Kennedy*; The Voice Australia’s tenor.
Alexa Curtis*; winner of The Voice Kids Australia.
Naomi Price*; one of Australia’s leading cabaret and music theatre performers.

Other names on the bill include locals Jal Joshua, Kiara Rodrigues, and Leah Lever accompanied by the Redlands Sinfonia Orchestra and the Redland City Choir.

The event will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display.

Christmas by Starlight is an alcohol-free event.


A Time For Us

*Luke Kennedy is an Australian performer best known for touring internationally with The Ten Tenors and performing the title role in Jesus Christ Superstar in various productions around the country.

He has performed at Australia’s best known Christmas concert Carols by Candlelight in Melbourne and his repertoire includes Christmas classics such as O Holy Night, which he released as a single last year.

*Alexa Curtis  is the winner of The Voice Kids Australia 2014, and wowed audiences during this year’s The Voice Kids competition with a voice and stage presence that far exceeds her tender age of 10.

*Naomi Price is one of Australia’s leading cabaret and music theatre performers. Originally from England, her extensive performance credits include world premieres Wrecking Ball (the little red company), Rumour Has It: Sixty Minutes Inside Adele (the little red company), The Wishing Well (La Boite Theatre Company/matrix theatre), and The Class of 69 (Harbour Agency – national tour); Women in Voice (Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts); and national tours for shake & stir theatre co with Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Hamlet, Bard to the Bone, Say it To My Facebook, Chop Logic, Vacant and Tragic Magic.
Recent music theatre credits include iconic roles in Jesus Christ Superstar, The Last Five Years, Songs for a New World, Into the Woods, Rent, and Tell Me on a Sunday. Naomi has also provided backing vocals for artists such as Guy Sebastian, Marina Prior, Luke Kennedy and Max Pellicano.
