Evade police, stolen vehicle, Capalaba

A man has been charged after allegedly failing to stop for police at Capalaba yesterday.

It is alleged around 2.40pm Polair observed a stolen vehicle at a service station at the corner of Redland Bay Road and Neumann Road.

It will further be alleged, as a police car pulled into the service station and approached the stolen vehicle, it drove off at speed. As another police vehicle approached from a different entrance, the stolen vehicle attempted to avoid police, causing a minor collision.

Police will allege the stolen vehicle then accelerated heavily and exited the service station onto Redland Bay Road.

Officers found the car abandoned in a shopping centre on the corner of Old Cleveland Road and Creek Rd at Carindale and a man was arrested a short time later.

A 26-year-old Birkdale man has been charged with evade police in relation to the incident.

He was further charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, three counts of evade police, six counts of unlawful possession of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, break and enter and possession of stolen property in unrelated matters.

A 31-year-old Birkdale woman was charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

They were due to appear in the Cleveland Magistrates Court today.
